The playing fields of Lake Logan invite friendly pick-up games of softball, volley ball, soccer or tag football, while the lake itself offers swimming and boating options from sailing to canoeing to kayaking. White water rafting is available at Nantahala Outdoor Center, about an hour's drive away. If tennis as your game, it's available on campus; and there are three fine golf courses nearby (See Golf-All About It) Lake Logan and the crystal clear Pigeon River which flows into it are brimming with bass and trout, just waiting for ardent anglers to try their luck. The Pigeon is reputed to be one of the best trout streams in the NC mountains, and its right in your front yard! Hiking and jogging round out the "vigorous" sports, but there's still horseshoes, Bocci, badminton, etc. for those inclined to less stressful pursuits!
